Description
I had to design a complete book cover, for a hard back edition, for my Illustrator class. I chose Blameless, by Gail Carriger. It's the third book in The Parasol Protectorate series. It's a fantabulous steampunk series, with supernaturals, vampires, werewolves, killer bugbots, mysterious appearances of octopods and tea.
P.S. The blue background edging this posting isn't part of the design; I added it as a color appropriate backdrop, so I could give Ms. Carriger proper copyright credits, and also my own art copyright. Only the bit on the rust red/brown background is the cover re-design.

I'm not really sure with a lighter blue or the text on the bottom banner, but it's a really interesting concept. The middle illustration is interesting too, I am not entirely familiar with "steampunk." I would of changed the font on the footer and possible put a medium touch on the text. Do have any other colors for the header or border such as a black or darker vinyl? Possibly a rustier color to match the idea behind "steampunk?" I would have also centered her name, and made it a tad larger. The portion"A tale of vampires, tea time and templars." looks out of place, I would incorporate it into the actual title and make it also larger. Just my thoughts. Good concept though.
